The. main shaft, is 4' ~ 8~ in the clear. Zt is ft;
deep .and is timbered with ~" % 8° sawed caribbing. There
are three levels.
As the ore is mostly sow grade they are figuring on
-- working it by the Dave system.
All work st the .present time is carried on on the
first and second levels in the old workings.
hoisting is done by buckets, weight of load hoisted,
7t10 lb a .
Eden are hoisted by machinery a ddstancse of 2p~ ft.
Cable. is b~8"round in fair.condition, in nse about
a year, and is provided with safetychai:n and clamps, `
in use about a year; No safety device is employed to
prevent over-winding. .
All material is hoisted from. two levels.
The bell line is a 1~4 h®mp rope attached to a 6"
gong. The state code of signals is employed and are only
posted in the engine room. All persons are prohibited
from riding on loaded bucket, but this order is not posted a
near collar pf shaft.
-Only fcizr rren are allowed. to ride in the bucket at
one time.
The level stations are not provided with passage-way
around working shafts. All stations in the shaft are,
provided with-doors. The shaft to the second levex is ''
~- secured by pillar of ground upon each side saff icient`to
`'' insure safety, all wirizes or. mill holes are covered or
surrounded with guard rails. The shaft is not being sunk
at the present time.

The method of ore extraction is that of overhand and
underhand stoping. Hand drilling,. both single and double " ?
are employed.
Tha method of timbering employed is that of atolls ~`
and is only Yair, using red and white,'Spruce, prepared by ~
