The lain shaft is 4! % 8' in the clear, 830' feet
deep, and there are eight levels, and it is timbered
with cribbing.
Cdark at the present time: is being carried on on
ghth level,,and all work is being done in virgin ground.
.The hoisting method em_ployPd is by treans of a skip.

iVeight of losd hoisted,2,C10II lbs. Listance hoisted,
800 feet, The cable is 7~8" round crucible steel and-
has.heen in use three months, and it i.s equipped with
safety ,chain and clamps. The skip is just being
equipped vaith safety. clutches; there are no safety devices
employed to prevent aver-winding.
• P~aterial is only hoisted from one level at this time.
The shaft ds supplied with a 316" wire Sine attached
to an eight inch gong. T'ne state code of signals is 'em-
ployed, but they are. not posted in engine roam, a.t collar-
of sP.aft and each level station:
Persons are prohibited from riding oh loaded skip,
and this order is posted near collar of shaft. Tdo notice
stating the maximum number of men permitted to ride upon
skip at one time is posted at collar of shaft and at each
' level ata,tion.
The skip is loaded direct from the mine cars, and the
guides are 4" l: 4",Oregon Pine.
All level stations are-not provided with passage-way
around working shaft, and shaft at all stations is hat
provided with guard rails, but shaft is secured by pillar of
groand upon: each side sufficient to insure safety. All
winzea or mil}. holes are covered or surrounded vvith guaad
rails. The shaft is not being sunk..
Tile method of ore extraction omployed is tYiat of over -
hand stoping. 2-1~4" yeyners and buzzer air drills are
emplayed. Pio hand dril3ing is ec^ployed.
The m~thad of timbering em played is that of stalls
