to all federal and state offices in the Denver metro area negating <br />the need for any overnight or long distance travel for research <br />there. <br />Beyond the equipment to complete the work, WHS has experience <br />in a number of projects. During the past five years, the company <br />finished a comprehensive history of Aurora, Colorado, for the city <br />government that was published in 1985. In addition to that project <br />the company has been involved in a range of projects including <br />cultural resource planning and litigation research for a major <br />national law firm. The company has completed contracts with the <br />National Park Service to perform a Historic Resource Studies and <br />inventories of Dinosaur National Monument in northwestern Colorado <br />and northeastern Utah, Canyonlands National Park, Arches National <br />Park, Great Sand Dunes National Monument, and Natural Bridges <br />National Monument, each study included researching and writing <br />narrative histories, the field survey(LCS Standards), and <br />nomination of properties to the National Register of Historic <br />Places. WHS is nearing completion of a similar studies at Grand <br />Teton National Park of more than 1,000 structures and Black Canyon <br />of the Gunnison National Monument. Also, the company has completed <br />a survey and evaluation project, for the City of Louisville, <br />Colorado, Historical Commission and the Colorado Historical <br />Society, a survey and public outreach program of three counties in <br />southwestern Iowa, and an agricultural survey in Weld County, <br />Colorado. In addition the company is working on a number of <br />consulting arrangements with archaeological firms, many of which <br />have dealt with historic mining resources. These varied experiences <br />show that the staff of Western Historical Studies is both well <br />qualified and well equipped to complete any study in a timely and <br />professional manner. Recently principals of the company have been <br />on the faculty of the Bureau of Land Management's national training <br />center in Phoenix, Arizona, for a course in the management of <br />historic resources offered to Bureau employees.
