Corporate qualifications <br />Western Historical Studies, a woman's owned and managed small <br />business, has extensive experience and the necessary equipment to <br />successfully complete a wide variety of historic research and <br />cultural resources projects. The talented personnel are supported <br />by the latest technology for historic research and report <br />preparation. The company maintains a growing library of more than <br />two thousand volumes with the majority of the books on Western <br />history topics. Two Jeep four-wheel drive vehicles, a Cherokee and <br />a Comanche pick-up, both fully equipped for field work, are <br />available to the research team assuring access to all but the most <br />remote regions and in all but the most inclement weather. WHS <br />camera equipment available for field recording work includes four <br />Pentax professional model cameras (LX and MX) and a wide variety of <br />Pentax lenses from a 28mm perspective correction (shift)lens to a <br />500mm supertelephoto, as well as a number of filters for black and <br />white and color photography. <br />Word processing and data manipulation are done in-house using <br />a MS-DOS personal computer, models AT with dual disk drives(1.2 mb <br />and 1.44 mb), a 40 megabyte hard disks, a math co-processor and <br />graphics capabilities. For work in the field the company uses an <br />IBM compatible Tandy 1400LT laptop computer with a 20 megabyte hard <br />drive. The computers are supported by a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet <br />II printer and an Epson FX-85 printer and a variety of business and <br />professional software, including SPSS/PC and PCDOS 4.01. Word <br />processing is done on WordPerfect 5.1, a system compatible with <br />Wordstar (for samples of WHS computer-generated site forms see <br />following pages). Paradox 3 is used for data management and <br />financial record are kept using quatro Pro. WHS has a modem in the <br />AT computer and takes full advantage of electronic database <br />searches through CompuServe, an on-line reference service and CARL. <br />WHS does not maintain its own printing facility, but has working <br />arrangements with two local printers to handle that work.
