TABLE TWO -- JEFFERSON COUNTY <br />MINE NAME COMMENTS ON FEATURES <br />Murphy No. 1 S: Subsidence trough. A trough 70' long, 10' wide, and 7' deep marks the former ad it of this <br />mine. <br />Murphy No. 2 <br />New Little <br />White Ash <br />New Loveland <br />New Mine <br />S: Subsidence trough and pits. A subsidence trough 600' long, 500' wide, and 5'-10' deep lie: <br />on the south-facing slope overlooking Ralston Creek. A pit 20' across and a 10' deep and <br />other smaller pits occur on the pediment surface north of the trough. Shaft site is locates <br />on terrace at foot of south-facing slope and is a pit 20' across and 5'-10' deep. <br />S: Subsidence pit. A small pit 10'-15' across and 2'-3' deep overlies the shaft of this mine <br />Z: Reference 2 notes that a west and an east bed were worked. <br />S: Subsidence pit. A pit 10'-15' across and 2'-3' deep overlies coal mine shaft. Subsidence <br />pit. Small pit 5'-10' in diameter and 4' deep overlies collapsed stope of New Loveland <br />Mine. <br />*: Horizontal and inclined openings. Portal of inclined opening is 5'-10' wide and 10' high; <br />incline intact for about 50' underground. Horizontal opening is entry to intact under- <br />ground stope whose roof is only 4' thick. Stope is 10' long, 25' wide, and 10'-15' high. <br />No access deterrent. Lies within a few hundred yards of Golden city limits. <br />*: 47'-100' depth. Mine shaft 97' deep. Soil and rubble filled the shaft to 45'; below that <br />point the shaft is apparently open.
