TABLE TWO -- FREMONT COUNTY <br />MINE NAME COMMENTS ON FEATURES <br />Double Dick S: Subsidence pits. Two pits 8' in diameter, 3' to 5' deep; one pit 15' in diameter, 5' deep. <br />(Old) Pits due to subsidence over incline and behind mine entry. <br />(Husband) <br />Falgien *: One vertical opening. Opening is subsidence pit leading into mine incline. Opening at top <br />(Nushaft) of pit is 4' in diameter; bottom of pit is 8' wide; pit is 15' deep and has overhanging <br />(Falgien No. 2) walls; no warning, no access deterrent. <br />S: Subsidence trough and pits. Trough is 60' long, 20' wide, 4' deep; due to subsidence over <br /> incline entry. One pit 4' in diameter 15' deep; other pit 10' long, 6' wide, 2' deep; both <br /> pits due to subsidence over inclines. <br /> Reclamation, Spring 1983, of subsidence involved conventional excavation and backfilling <br /> techniques. The incline was filled using riprap, fill material from nearby waste banks and <br /> topsoil. Mine site will be revegetatedand fenced during the fall of 1983. <br />Florence Canyon Project hazard abatement work began Spring 1983 and consisted of backfilling the inclines <br /> using appropriate riprap, coal waste, and topsoil material. The hazardous shaft openings <br /> were also backfilled using a similar graded fill techniques. All areas appropriate for <br /> revegetation were covered with a layer of soil material suitable for plant growth and will <br /> be revegetated and fenced during the Fall of 1983. <br />Fremont *: Two vertical openings. Air shaft is about 20' across at surface, narrowing to 7' x 3' at <br />(Oak Creek) a depth of 11; shaft more than 40' deep; water in bottom of shaft; has warning siyn but no <br /> sign but no physical deterrent.
