Waste bank of Chandler mine undergoing spontaneous combustion of coal <br />fines. Local areas exhibit temperature of 150 F at depths of 6" to 2'. No access deter- <br />rent. Area is very popular with dirt bikers and target shooters. <br />Chandler Creek *: (Griffiths Slope area of Chandler Creek) <br />(Griffiths) <br />(Griffiths- Inclined opening; 4' wide, 2' high, goes into hill slope an unknown distance; bedrock roof <br />Chandler) is partially collapsed; no access deterrent; within 100 yards of dwellings and two major <br />(Griffiths Slope) roads, within 200 yards of elementary school. <br />(Canon Hi way) <br />Z: Longwall, and room and pillar mining tecfmiques were used. <br /> Reclamation of Griffith's slope awaiting landowner consent -- Backfill the ad it using <br /> imported riprap and on-site coal waste. All disturbed areas will be topsoiled and <br /> revegetated. <br />Coal Creek S: Subsidence pits. Two large pits, one 50' long, 30' wide, 4' deep; other 50' in diameter, <br />No. 1 3' deep. Two small pits 6' and 10' in diameter, 3' deep. All four pits due to subsidence <br />(American over incline entries. <br />Independent No. 1) <br />(Petry Bros.) <br />(Oak Creek) <br />Coal Creek S: Subsidence pits. Four pits ranging in size from 5' to 10' in diameter and 3' to 4' in <br />No. 2 depth.
