ORE BODIES AND ORES.
The Hampton vein is a fissure, with a strike N. 64a east,
dipping slightly to the N. w. The width of the vein, variee
from 4 to 14 ft. with an average of 6 ft.
The character of the vein filling is enargite ( a aulph-
arsenide of copper) and iron pyrites, ocouring in streaks, ac-
oampanied by a feldspathic and quartzose mixture impregnated with
iron pyrites. There are at present, two ore shoots opened up,
differing in aharacter of ore, The upper one is copper bearing,
while the lower one consists principally of iron sulphides.
The enargite forms principally the smelting ore, the
average shipments giving 17'fu capper. The iron pyrites, with
gangue matter, comprises the concentrating ore, which is shipped
to Idaho Springs, concentrating 3-1~8 to 1.
The principal minerals found in the vein are enargite,
iron and copper pyrites.
