Revegetation is sparse in the topsoiled portion of the West Ridge area,
southwest of the West Ridge Road. The non-topsoiled part of the West Ridge area is densely
covered with alfalfa, although growth is not as lush as last spring due to dry conditions. Cover is good
on the reclaimed slopes along the Goat Trail.
Weeds. Weed control is needed on the reclaimed slopes along the Goat Trail where there are
patches of Whitetop (Hoary cress).
SLIDES AND DAMAGE
Slopes appeared stable throughout the site. No slope instability is evident on the hillslope above Oak
Creek . We walked the Goat Trail to check for erosional stability (and vegetative cover). No erosion
problems were found.
No new settlement is evident on the settlement crack in the soil that extends a few hundred feet along
the west side of North Road in the former highwall area of the final Moffat pit.
4
