Recommendations Asbestos has historically been used in many types of construction materials and virtually all buildings constructed prior to 1980 have been found to contain asbestos. The U.S. EPA has stated in its Summary of Managing Asbestos In-place (Green Book, 1990), "Intact and undisturbed asbestos materials do not pose a health risk." Given the inactive status of much of the site and the low potential for disturbance of identified ACMs, ARCADIS recommends no further action until the planned demolition of the faa<lity occurs. ARCADIS recommends that the findings of this asbestos survey be incorporated into a Specification document. The Specification can then be provided for bidding purposes to prospective asbestos abatement contractors prior to award of [he abatement and demolition project. The CDPHE Regulation 8 for asbestos in buildings requires a written asbestos abatement design that must be included with a Specification if more than 1000 lineal or 3000 square feet of ACM is abated.
