.\
• (Page 2) •
MINE ID ~ OR PROSPECTING ID f M-80-121
INSPECTION DATE 11/21/95 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS CLK
OBSERVATIONS
This site was examined as part of the routine inspection schedule.
This 56-acre site ie intermittently worked by Weld County. At this time, sand and gravel are
being hauled out of the pit. The following problems were observed during the inspection.
??p00
1. There ie not enough topsoil present to complete reclamation. Approximately 6D0-800 CY are
stored at the site; since about 8 acres currently need to be covered with topsoil, the
operator ie about 5000 CY short of the necessary amount. More topsoil must be brought on the
site to complete the reclamation efforts.
2. While elopes along the east and west boundaries have been graded down to 3:1 (with a few
exceptions along the eastern elope which approximate 1.5:1) they have not been either
topeoiled or revegetated, and gullies and sloughs are beginning to form. DMG recommends that
Weld County stabilize these elopes as soon ae possible, to prevent further damage. The
County also may want to consider fertilizing and amending the elopes, due to inadequate
topsoil.
3. DMG recommends Weld County submit a technical revision to the site for actions to be taken
for site stabilization during operations shutdown. We also recommend that notice of
Temporary Cessation of Operations be submitted when the County plane not to use the site for
at least 180 days (Rule 1.13 of the Colorado Mineral Rules and Regulations). Or a technical
revision can be submitted to change the statue of this pit to that of an "intermittent"
operation.
I & E Contact Addreae cc: Carl B.
