This amendment ie primarily a clarification of areas of a
the permit boundaries, and also adds new areas of affected land within
boundaries. The only issue to be resolved prior to approval of the amends
bond amount for this operation. This inspection was conducted to gather
Division to complete a reclamation coat estimate - the information ~
earthwork quantities, and an assessment of the status of reclaimed
continued or potential future quarrying. The various quarries within t
been designated on the application maps ae sites A thru M. These si~
referenced in this report.
The nature of quarrying for dimension atone at this location results in
great deal of waste rock and fines. The basic method of reclamation
materials back on to the disturbed areas - backfillinq any highwalle the
by the quarry operations - and direct revegetation of the backfilled
topsoil available for use in reclamation at any of the quarry areas, me
large extent of historic quarrying at the site, and because there is lit
even in undisturbed areas. The operator has demonstrated that these meth
be employed in several of the quarry areas, as will be detailed below
utilized straw mulch on areas to be revegetated. Because of the rocky
fill, it is not possible to crimp the mulch into the soil, resulting in
loss of straw due to the wind. The Division will base the bond required
coat to use hydro-mulch, because this would be the preferred method tha
by a contractor hired by the State. This does not mean that the operator
use straw if they chose, however the operator may wish to consider hydro
to keep mulch in place.
Site A ie immediately adjacent to County Road 27, and was eloped and s
sloping and back-filling was done in accordance with the reclamation pl
spot seeding may be necessary to establish adequate vegetation.
S INITIALS ACS
aerators amendment
fatted land within
he existing permit
ant ie the required
.nformat ion for the
ceded is primarily
rasa and areas of
e permit area have
designations are
he generation of a
ie to grade these
have been created
~eas.
