Hydrologic Balance
The sediment pond at the site was found dry. This pond is approved to remain as a permanent
impoundment. The embankment appeared stable and the trickle tube projecting through the
embankment appeared normal. The emergency spillway is protected with riprap, although the
pond has never shown evidence of discharge through this spillway. A slight amount of erosion
is present at the pond inlet but existing rock and vegetation appear to have stabilized further
down-cutting.
y ~ .` r
~' O
f N'r. ~.r. {r.. t~~
.. ~ '~' 1:
Pond inlet. Rimrock Mine. June
Backfilling and Grading
Two small areas were excluded from a previous Phase I bond release at this site. One was a
small subsidence crater that the permit requires be repaired by the permittee if it is within 250
feet of the pit. Records reviewed did not specify the location of this feature other than being
near Engleville Gulch. No evidence of a subsidence crater could be located during the
inspection and it is likely that this feature was reclaimed shortly after it was identified during the
Phase t inspection in 1993. The other area excluded from the previous Phase I finding was the
oil tank containment area. This area has been regraded. topsoiled, and reseeded. The area is
nearly indistinguishable from the surrounding area.
