(Page 2)
r~
MINE ID / OR PROSPECTING ID ~ K-80-020
INSPECTION DATE 07-19-95 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS CLK
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection is a follow-up bond recalculation inspection from May 1995. Six problems
were cited at the time of the inspection, with a 60 day due date for five and a 30 day due
date for one of them, and it was decided at that time that recalculation of Braley Sand &
Gravel's bond would take place in July. The 30-day item was resolved in June, and the other
five items were addressed during this inspection. The following observations were made during
this inspection.
1. The required sign displaying the permit number and name of the pit was posted at the
entrance to the site.
2. The berm along the Highline Canal has been backfilled, except for about 100 feet which is
being completed at this time. The southern boundary undercutting has also been repaired
(with about 150 feet left until completion), and the adjacent elopes graded at 3H:1V.
3. A map with the clearly designated topsoil etorage area, concrete and asphalt storage, and
overburden piles, and estimated volumes was provided by Harry Eppe.
4. A copy of the recent survey of the new property boundary lines was given to DMG.
5. A request for a technical revision to the permit to include concrete and asphalt etorage
oneite was given to DMG'e representative. A technical adequacy review of the revision has
already been sent to Braley Sand ~ Gravel, Inc.
6. The western and northern edges of the permit area are still somewhat ill-defined.
7. After extensive measurement of topsoil, asphalt and concrete stockpiles, distances
Setween highwall cute and overburden etorage, and length of cute, enough information was
obtained to recalculate the bond for the permit area (see attached Cost Summary).
8. According to the last amendment to the permit (1986), only 8 acres of the site were to
be disturbed at any one time. According to DMG~e observations, at least 53 acres of the site
have been mined and not yet reclaimed. Also, while we are assuming that there ie enough
topsoil on Bite to reclaim the entire disturbed area, it ie possible that Braley sand &
Gravel, Inc. does not currently have enough topsoil to complete reclamation. Should this
prove to be the case, another increase in the financial warranty will be required.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Harrv EAPH
OPERATOR Bralev Sand & Gravel, Inc.
STREET 8505 Mountain View Rd.
CITY/STATE/ZIP Littleton, CO 80125
cc: Carl B.
