Fish and Wildlife
Turkeys continue to use the recently reclaimed areas for feeding and loafing. Evidence of
heavy elk usage is also apparent.
Revepetation
Vegetation of the reclaimed areas was just starting to show significant signs of growth, likely
due to cool soil conditions. Outslopes of the RDA, DWP, and the reclaimed coal stockpile #4
are in the early stages of the growing season. Scotch thistle rosettes near the large
substation should be sprayed prior to setting seed heads. Houndstongue was also observed
in significant numbers at the West Mine and should be sprayed as necessary.
Subsidence
The small subsidence collapse at the West Mine did not appear larger but the fence has
fallen over on the east side due to saturated soils. Please repair this fence as soon as
possible.
Overall, the site appeared in good condition for the spring season.
