III. COMMENTS - (:OMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />dunng the inspection Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />Th(s was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of <br />Minerals and Geology. The weather was overcast and windy. Ground conditions were <br />partially snow-covered and muddy All areas were accessible by foot or vehicle. <br />Availability of Records <br />The public copy of the mine records is kept at the office of Peak Project Management (PPM). <br />The contact, address, and phone number for PPM is Ron Thompson, Peak Project <br />Management, 34115 County Road 20.8. Trinidad. CO 81082, 719-846-4975. The liability <br />insurance certificate cancellation clause requires modification to comply with the Rules. All <br />other records were found in compliance as detailed on page 2a of this report. <br />Roads <br />The access road to the RDA has been regraded. The surface was generally free of ruts and <br />water appears to drain to the inside ditch where it periodically passes under the road via <br />culverts. Small sumps were noted in front of each culvert to facilitate operation. <br />Hvdrolopic Balance <br />The water level (n Pond 8 at the RDA is <br />now about five feet below the top of the <br />principle spillway riser. The operator is <br />drawing down the water level in this pond <br />to evaluate the pond sediment level for <br />potential future cleanout. <br />Repair at the pond 8 emergency <br />spillway/primary spillway intersection is <br />now complete. (see photo) <br />Pond 4 held a small amount of water in <br />the southeast end. Ditches leading to <br />this pond were cony <br />snowmelt during the <br />The two containments at the RDA conveyor, south of <br />Highway 12. have been cleaned of sediment. The <br />photograph to the left shows the west containment <br />after sediment had been removed. <br />
