Mr. John Schmahl
-2-
Mai
31 , 1988
benches are also recommended. Other reclamation issues which shou d be
addressed in the amendment include the height and slope of the bac filled
portions of the quarry face; depth of topsoil application; and ree tablishment
of surface drainage through the site.
Financial Warranty. It does not appear that the currently held fi ancial
warranty is sufficient to accomplish reclamation of this site. Th cost of
completing the amended reclamation plan should be estimated. This cost
estimate should include the removal of the waste material from thi site.
Please submit a detailed reclamation cost estimate using verifiabl volume
calculations and equipment costs for locations A and B.
Based upon the revised reclamation cost estimate, the financial wa ranty will
need to be modified so that sufficient funds to reclaim the site a e available.
The Division is very concerned that the approved mining and reclam ti on plan
be amended as soon as possible so that this site remains in compli nce with
the Act. Therefore, we ask that you submit the permit amendment b no later
than May 5, 1988.
If you have any questions about this matter or if you care to discuss this
further, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
G
Steven G. Renner
Hydrologist
SGR/sa
cc: Tom Logue, Armstrong Consultants
6435E
