.G ~ \ • •
II. Compliance with Colorado Surface Coal ~4ining Reclamation act
CRS 197J, as amended J4-JJ-101, et. secL.,
and the
_ Rules and Regulations Issued Pursuant to the ,ict
.s includes a Sisting of the particular provisions of the regulatory program which were
~amined during the course of this inspection, and identifies enforcement actions taken
Suring the inspection for failure to comply with the Rules and Regulations, the Act and
the permit.
4.02 Signs and Markers
The mine identification sign was in place. Perimeter markers have not yet been placed
around that portion of the permit area disturbed by surface operations.
4.05 Hydrologic Balance
The problems mentioned by Jim Herron in his inspection of March 18 have been corrected.
A load of coal had been dumped in the drainage ditch above and to the East of the portal
area and is blocking the ditch.
The extreme Northern end of the East diversion where the ditch drops into the natural
stream channel has been slightly relocated, so that the gradient of that section of
ditch has been substantially lessened, reducing the potential for scouring.
4.06 Topsoil
No topsoil has been salvaged at this mine in the past. Topsoil will be salvaged in the
next permit term in areas to be disturbed by the proposed refuse disposal site and by
construction of the D portal yard area and the proposed sediment pond.
4.15 Revegetation
Recently disturbed areas, including road fills and embankments associated with the
existing sediment pond, were seeded and mulched last fall. A Iow number of seedlings
had emerged at this time. The major portion of this area will be redisturbed by
development of the "D" seam.
