General Comments
This was a partial inspection of the Red Canyon Mine. In addition to the normal inspection
of roads, signs and markers, sediment control structures, etc., the area to be disturbed
by the proposed waste disposal site and the fan at the ventilation shaft was investigated.
Noise from the fan was the source of a citizen complaint filed earlier in the month by a
family residing to the South of the mine. A dirt berm presently encloses the fan on three
sides, East, West and North. Some type of structure should be placed directly to the South
of the fan, or other measures taken to muffle noise in this direction. This is being
handled as part of the permit review process.
