• (Page 2) •
.LINE ID ~ OR PROSPECTING ID ~ K-81-276
INSPECTION DATE 06/12/96 INSPECTOR'S IIAITIALS AJW CBM
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine inspection conducted by Tony Waldron and Carl Mount of the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology. The operator was not present during the inspection. It
appears that some activity has occurred on the site recently ae evidenced by the presence of
heavy equipment. Mining activity appeared to be occurring mostly in the northern portion of
the pit.
The financial warranty for this operation will be reviewed by the Division and various
measurements were taken of the pit to complete this task. The operator will be contacted if
any changes to the warranty are proposed.
Exhibit G of the original application indicated that this operation would Ise a dry pit and
a berm would be maintained along the west aide of the pit to prevent drainage of any surface
water into the Yampa River. However, during this inspection it was discovered that a trench
had been installed in the north pit along the west aide. This trench appeared to have been
installed to drain excess surface water that may accumulate in the pit bott~~m directly into
the Yampa River. There ie no record in the Division files of a discharge permit and ae
mentioned, the original plan called for maintaining a berm along the west aide of the permit
to prevent any drainage into the Yampa River. Therefore, this activity ie being cited ae a
problem on page 3 of this report along with appropriate corrective actions.
The identification sign was properly posted at the entrance to the mine site.
I & E Contact Addreae
NAME Wee Hertzoc
OPERATOR Wee Hertzoc Truckinc
STREET 828 Aehlev Road
CITY/STATE/ZIP Cra ic.
