New Elk Mine. roe. 2
We inspected the reclaimed former powder house area and reclaimed core house area. These
areas aze stable and no surface water runoff problems were noted. Post mining topography is flat
to gently rolling and stable. There was some water impounded in containment pond 1. This pond
is stable with no problems noted.
We inspected areas reclaimed in 2003 including the former pond 5 area and SW coal stockpile
azeas. These areas are stable, meet post mining topography requirements, and no surface water
runoff problems were noted.
The south and west slopes of the development waste pile were also reclaimed in 2003. These
slopes aze stable, and surface water runoff is controlled by sediment ponds 4 & 7. This concluded
the evaluations.
We held a brief close out meeting, and no problems were noted. Please address any questions
concerning this report to Henry Austin, Senior Reclamation Specialist, at haustin~osmre.gov or
to (303) 844-1400 x1466.
