Pond 8 held a moderate amount of water due to recent storm water runoff. The sediment
marker is positioned a few feet adjacent to the principle spillway riser.
Above pond 8 is a gas pipeline crossing associated with coal bed methane extraction.
Runoff in the canyon is routed through a culvert prior to continuing down the canyon to pond
8. Erosion below this culvert and deposition above the culvert may jeopardize this culvert
and the gas line The operator should consider plans to add riprap or rock dams below this
culvert to protect the culvert and gas line. Some modification to the light use road drainage
above this location may also be necessary.
~~`.'7 •4 4 ~i.'\
_!• ~ , t
~t
w r~
_ ~
~~ ~',~:;-~;; . , 2005 9 20

The perimeter ditch leading to the downdrain between pond 8 and pond 9 where d enters the
downdrain on the west requires modification to allow flow to properly enter the downdrain
The east portion of this same ditch should be cleaned from the downdrain to pond 9. Interior
ditches on the backfilled north slope also require some reshaping to ensure proper function.
Pond 9 held murky water about two feet below the lowest hole in the riser Although ground
conditions were dry, water in the pond seemed to indicate storm runoff in the recent past.
The sediment marker, removed during cleanout operations. should be reset in the pond as
soon as conditions allow.
