<br />• <br />ENERGY f-1INES T1, 2, and ECY,f1AN PARK <br />715.15 Disposal of Excess Rock and Earth (cont'd) <br />intervals, a L 5 safety factor, and inspection by a Registered <br />Professional Engineer. This first disposal is located next to <br />the Eckman Park extension. <br />715.16 Topsoil Handlin <br />Pit advance is occurring in the Eckman Park extension. Topsoil <br />has been removed, with the exception of two areas with grades over <br />35 percent. Rick Mills, Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division <br />inspector, exempted these areas from topsoil removal. <br />715.17 Protection of the Hydrologic System <br /> <br />NP DES Permit °CO-0027154 expired on June 30, 1978. An April 1973 <br />letter from the Colorado Health Department grants an extension to <br />this permit for as long as the renewal review is ongoing. The <br />system of sediment ponds is presently under construction. The <br />discharge points on all the ponds must be included in the disc'narye <br />permit. This present permit requires monthly reporting of TSS, pH, <br />and Fe monitoring data, and ~.veekly reporting of flow rates. The <br />operator has been reporting quarterly for years with no corrections <br />from the Health Department. Mr. Myers said he would see that this <br />discrepancy is remedied immediately. The July 1980 monitoriny report <br />was available for review. <br />Groundvrater monitoring is extensive at these mines. The program <br />appears to be comprehensive and samples are gathered on a regular <br />basis. hlr. Jeff Saunders is respcnsible for the thorough scope of <br />the groundwater monitoring at Energy Fuels. The program will include <br />any pit advance areas.
