SPECIALISTS IN POTATOES
2138E 8TH ST., BOX 816
OREELEY, COLORADO 80833
OFFICE PHONE: 970.353-1864 gEA80HAL• COLOPAOO • ARIZONA • 7ExAs
FAX M PHONE: 870351.7007
They continue to reise the elevation of the berm knowing they are in violation of the law and having no
consideration for their neighbors by possibly pushing flood waters onto then land. The berm on Varre's
side of the river is a IM higher than on our side, and if a Rood does occur, the flood will push the water
onto the north side of the river due to the building up of the berm on the south side. Tn a Floodway ,there
is supposed to be no buildup ofmaterials or structures to disturb the natural Row of water in a event of
floods or high wale. We have an Industrial Park already existing north of the river in the floodplain with
numerous commercial buildings and plan to continue w build. We ere very ooncarted about flooding on
our side due to the floodway violations that Varre Co. Inc. has incurred.
We ere asking you to reconsider this permit and take necessary action against Varna Co Inc. to velum the
berm to it's original height of 8 fact high from the bottom of the rive bed.
Enclosed are pictures of Varna Co Inc. dumping dirt onto the berm and raisiog the elevation of the berm
or dike. Please note, writing arl front or back ofpichues explaining different heights of original berm and
elevated berm done by Varna Co. Inc.
Also enclosed is information from the City Of Greeley an the new studies of the Floodway and Floodplain
and their feelings on Varna ever being out of the Floodway.
In addition, the new gravel pit well permit that they are requesting crnlcems us in depleting the existing
wells an our property. The production use of 0.72 MGD, I S acro-fect will lower the water table for our
wells and will cause a hardship due to the fad that we won't be able to wafer our landsgpe trees and
bushes. The well location is Weld. Sec. 3,9,10 Twp. 5 N.
