Pond inspection - Ponds are summarized in Table 1.
Pond discharges and conditions - Ponds were discharging in only actively mined drainages
(No Name. Johnson. East Pyeatt. and Oak). and the spring-fed Flume Gulch. All pond inslopes
and embankments appeared stable and were not Bullied. Where visible, each pond appears to
have at least 60~ of its capacity available for sediment storage. consistent with the
permit application. All flumes were in good condition.
Springs - The operator is commended for recently installing identification markers at
several of the springs.
The following field parameters were measured at springs.
Spring Flow.estim Temp..degrees C Ec. mmhos pH
eted
99-2 trickle 12 1000 7.8
S-1 (spring- 20 13 1100 8.1
fed)
No Name unknown 13 170D 7.8
Cottonwood seep 24 1400 7.8
East
Spring 99-03 was found to discharge from an outcrop of light gray rock that appears the
same as the rock that crops out around Fox Oen Spring. As at Fox Oen, this possible
travertine deposit at Spring 99-03 may indicate that, at least in the past. this spring had
a deeper source than the sandstone beds that lie at the ground surface in this area.
Ground Water Monitoring Wells - The following wells had Caps in place, were well-marked.
and surface casing was in good condition: GC-1. GC-2, GC-3, GF-1, GF-2. GF-3. GF-4. GF-5
P-6, and P-8.
BACKFILL AND GRADING
No problems were found in the ash dump area in Ash pit.
EXPLOSIVES AND SUPPORT FACILITIES
No problems were found in the explosives storage magazine or facilities yard area. The
hazardous waste storage area was in good order.
To ensure compliance with Section 4.08.5. blasting records should include the direction to
the nearest dwelling.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE
There were no more than two spoil ridges at each active pit. The eastern strip line is
approximately 200 feet east of well GP-1 which puts it approximately two-thirds of the way
into next year's approved pit advancement. The areas stripped ahead of the pits appears to
comply with Trapper's approved operation plan.
Page 4
