(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1977-439
INSPECTION DATE: nRi~ns INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: ~AS-
1. A site inspection of the Home Office Mine was conducted based on an inquiry from the City of Fort Collins on the status
of reclamation at the Home Office Mine. (see attached letter from Edith Felchle to DMG dated June 1, 2005). Present
during the inspection was Mr. Eric Reckentine of Lafarge West, Inc.
2. Ms. Felchle has inquired whether a 26 acre parcel containing reclaimed wash pond is within the permit boundary of the
Home Office Pit (M-77-439) or the Sterling Sand & Gravel Pit No. 2 (M-77-440), and whether groundwater was exposed at
this location prior to December 31, 1980. The site inspection confirmed that the pond in question does in fact occur
within the permit boundary of the Home Office Pit, and that a majority of the site has been mined and reclaimed to
ponds, including the 26 acre parcel immediately north of the Poudre River. Review of the permit file indicates that the 26-
acre area was mined after December 31, 1980. Exhibits C-3 & C-4 from Amendment No. 1 received on July 31, 1987
verify that the 26-acre parcel was disturbed, but dry and did not contain any exposed groundwater.
3. Mr. Reckentine indicated that the 24 acre plant site area on the south side of the Poudre River will be the last portion
of the permit area to be mined. This area is still being used as processing and stockpile area. Virtually all other portions
of the Home Office Pit have been mined and reclaimed.
I & E ContactAddress
NAME: Mr. Eric Reckentine
OPERATOR: Lafarge West, Inc.
STREET: 1400 W. 64~h Ave.
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Denver, CO 80221
cc: Carl Mount, DMG (via E-mail)
Attachment
