III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below aze comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the
inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or
evidence supporting the enforcement action.
Inspection of the Three Exploration Drill Sites
An inspection was made of three Notice of Intent (NOI) drill sites related to the Bowie No. 2 Mine.
The inspections were to determine the success of final reclamation and whether bond release can be
granted. These three drill sites had been visited previously in July of 2004 and all three needed
additional work before bond could be released.
X-1996-217-01 (Terror Creek Exploration)
Site BR2-96-9 -This drill hole was being used by BRL to gather subsidence data. This particular data
collection is not required by the Division. The Division was informed that BRL wants to continue this
data collection from this well and, therefore, will transfer this NOI drill site into the Bowie No. 2 Mine
permit.
X-1998-217-03 (Hotchkiss Ranch Exploration)
Site HR-98-22 -This site is accessed by the Beaz Creek road and is on private land. BRL has marked
the location of this drill hole with a metal stake. In July of 2004, the landowner requested in a
telephone conversation that the road and mud pit were to remain. The bond can be released at this site.
X-2000-217-OS (Iron Point
Site IP99-27 -This site is by the Hubbazd Creek road. BRL has marked the hole location with a metal
stake. The bond can be released.
Field Minor Revision
A field minor revision was approved for the Bowie No. 2 Mine. MR-61 involves the drilling of a
replacement B2-B gob vent borehole. The original drill hole failed. Bowie obtained a letter from the
Bureau of Land Management approving the proposed action. This letter was submitted to the Division
in the field for MR-61.
c:/word/bowie2/insp0805
2
