Cottonwood groves border the property to the east and west. The wetlands also flank the
permit. area, and may be fed by upland runoff.
Recommendations:
1. Submit a technical revision which provides for the following:
a. Increased irregularity of the proposed shoreline which would increase the edge
effect of the site and maintain continuity of the wetland areas. The staff recommends
that the existing wetland area extend as a peninsula into the proposed pond area.
Such mitigation should tend to compensate to some degree for the loss of. wildlife
habitat along the river.
b. Address the recommendations in the Division of Wildlife report of hfay 24, 1982. The
Division concurs with such recommendations with one exception--the provision in the MLR
permit which allows for selective piling of vegetation per item 7 of the Dieision's (MLR)
adequacy letter of February 17, 1981.
2. Address the potential and time of submittal for any amendments to the lands flanking
the present site. The Division recommends that such amendments allow for maxiri~.mi protection
of existing cottonwood stands.
3. Address the circumstances under which the problems resulted, and propose plans to
prevent their recurrence.
4. Submit all responses to the above to the Division no later than July 16, 1982. The
Division will then re-evaluate consideration of possible enforcement action at tf~at time.
w
