a <br />The Montezuma County Weed Commission with the support of the Board of <br />County Commissioners has committed to treat, at County Expense, all infestations of <br />Leafy Spurge within the Cowity using whatever methods necessary to achieve complete <br />control. <br />Mapping of these targeted undesirable plants s1ia11 be accomplished to serve as a <br />base line for management techniques. Updates of said mapping will be continued on an <br />annual basis. Immediate attention to early infestations of problem noxious weeds will <br />Increase the County's chance for total successful control. These infestations have the <br />potential of reducing the economic value of land in all areas of the County. <br />Ivfontezuma County's road department has had a program of spot spraying and <br />band treatment on some county roads for several years. There has been a need for a <br />continuous band treatment of a!I county road right-of--ways with noxious weed <br />infestations. With the addition of new state of the art spraying equipment and the use of <br />skilled and trained technicians, Montezuma County intends to achieve a high Level bf <br />control of all undesirable plants on County roads. <br />Problem areas include roadsides, utility and pipeline corridors, irrigation canals and <br />ditches, drainage areas, municipal areas, housing subdivisions, private property, National <br />Forests, National Parks, BLM, Tribal and other County, State and Federal lands within the <br />County. Control of undesirable plants within problem areas shall be the <br />responsibility of these lairdo~vuers. <br />GOAL STATEIVIENT <br />The goal of this County is to aggressively control the known infestations of the <br />named undesirable plants, to identify any new infestations that affect the economic and <br />aesthetic value of lands within the County, to prevent the introduction, spread and <br />reproduction of undesirable plant species through integrated weed management techniques <br />and to educate the community about these Noxious bVeed problems. <br />A. Itemized Long Term Goals <br />I. Education -promote County wide awareness of problem. <br />2. To control known existing infestations, and to help prevent future <br />spread of undesirable weeds along County roadways, parks and open spaces through <br />integrated plant management techniques. <br />3. Update, continue with the mapping process. <br />4. To annually review management plan. <br />
