The entire length of the ramp road is lines by concrete jersey barriers, most
of which are aligned at the road edge and stable. The present operator uses this road, and presumably performs the
maintenance on it. During close inspection of the roadway on 6!3/99, no windrows of marble fines were observed along
this road, and the number of mis-aligned barriers was minimal. Durino this current inspection, it was noted that there were
several areas alono the upper portion of the road which contained windrowed piles of marble fines (often a foot deep or
morel and a lamer number of iersev barriers which appeared to be tipped toward the slope The presence of the marble
fines on this road may be due to inadequate sediment controls and is therefore considered at this time to be a problem
in the context of this report The topics of "stormwater management plan" and "offsite damage" are noted as problems
on page one. The last pace of this report lists the corrective actions and date.
The operator must provide information to the Division, related to the required stormwater and sediment control structures
on the site. which may be Dart of the discharge ICDPSI permit or stormwater management permit ISWMP). The operator
must also provide a statement as to the origin of or reason for the marble fines on the off-permit road. If such information
appears to indicate actual offsite damage due to uncontrolled runoff. it may be pursued as an enforcement action before
the Mined Land Reclamation Board. If there are runoff control structures required under those other permits, this Division
must be made aware of them, for monitoring and bonding purposes. A copy of this report is being sent to CDPHE/WQCD.
For all questions or responses to this report, please contact this inspector at the following address or phone: 701 Camino
del Rio, Room 125, Durango CO 81301; tel 970/247-5193 or fax 970/247-5104.
I & E Contact Address cc: Tom Gillis, DMG
^ CE
NAME Rex Loesbv ^ BL
OPERATOR Sierra Minerals Coro. ^ FS
STREET 6164 S Newport St -Ste 2000 ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Englewood.
