Chemical drums and vessels potentially containing fuel were observed in the pit. Vessels <br />containing hazardous or toxic materials should be stored in an impermeable structure of adequate <br />size to contain the volume of the vessel(s) therein, as potential leakage or failure may affect <br />groundwater. Pursuant to Rule 3.1.7(2)(c)(i), please propose permit conditions that will protect <br />groundwater uses. <br />Please inform the Office of your plans regarding this issue by March 5, 1997. <br />7. A ditch was observed in the southwest corner of the pit, appazently to drain the site into <br />ari adjacent arroyo. Pursuant to Rule 3.1.5(3), all grading shall be done in a manner to control <br />erosion and siltation of the affected lands, and to protect areas outside the affected land from <br />slides and other damage. Control structures to contain sediment on site should be constructed. <br />Please inform the Office of your plans regarding this issue by Mazch 5, 1997. <br />8. The Mining Plan indicates that topsoil will be stabilized with slopes no greater that 3H:1 V <br />and seeded with vegetation as suggested by the Soil Conservation Service.
