r
r
with our processing and marketing of gravel products. We will
continue to mine and reclaim mined areas as required, but will
make our basic operations a permanent business.
In light of this, the following will address the
observations and problems at Bayfield #1 noted in your report
of April 30, 1992 with an update of corrective actions. As
some of of our responses may affect the Permit, please make
them a part of the permit requiring revision or amendment at
this time. Additionally, we will be updating the current Permit
subject to our Land Use Approval by La Plata County.
We would request that the issue of permanent,,,us.es on ,t_he .
current Permit site be addressed after we receYiwve o[rr Mas'ter..
Plan approval from La P].a~taf._Count,~ I'n, tiadd'ition„- we would
request that the d'e'cision to increase th`e bori'd~ng be addressed
a~f't•er this same approval. We are moving forward without delay
to bring about the appropriate land use designation for this
property. After such designation, we will review and update
our existing permit and apply to others within the context of
the permanent land use.
Responses to "Problems, Possible Violations":
#1 -- enclosed please find a certified survey of the Permit
boundary, indicating the mined area, processing area,
projected mine area for 1992, and County approved
shop and yard area.
#2 -- topsoil stockpiled in the southwest corner of the
permit area will be re-seeded the week of September
14, 1992.
#3 -- No final reclamation has taken place at this time
due to expected further disturbance of the outer
edge of the mined area. Progress will be noted in
annual report of February 1993.
#4 -- We were granted a Temporary Use Permit by La Plata
County to allow Flint Engineering to remain on site
until September 28, 1992. They will be off the site
on or around this date.
#5 -- As per our initial Permit, a processing area that
could include a concrete and/or asphalt plant are
permitted. By virtue of its design, the new concrete
batch plant could be disassembled and moved to another
site and the area mined or reclaimed. As stated
above, our intention is to have the property
proved for business use by the County.
We would request extension of the correction date
for this item until we have received County approva l
#6 -- An identifying sign has been added to the entrance
