III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the inspection. Comments <br />also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />B. Scott Cowman Cowman) of Twentymile Coal Company (Twentymile) accompanied Byron Walker <br />(Walker) of the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) during this inspection. Photographs <br />included in this report aze on file in digitized form at the Division, and will be provided to Twentymile upon <br />request. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE <br />All impoundment structures were in good repair. There was water in all of the ponds except for Pond C. Other <br />observations are as follows: <br />Im oundment Identification Dischaz e Comments <br /> <br />Pond B 0.01 cfs estimate clear <br />Pond C no dischaz e <br />Pond D 0.02 cfs estimate cieaz <br />Pond E no dischaz e <br />Pond F no dischar e <br />Pond G no dischar e <br />Fish Creek Borehole no dischaz e <br />Pond E (Fish Creek Tipple) 0.03 cfs (measured) clear. The aerators were not <br />workin . <br />Streams about the site were sampled for quality. See the map attached for measurement results. Walker was <br />unaccompanied on this portion of the inspection. <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES <br />There was no change in the physical features at the NW Vent Shaft. <br />A barb-wire fence had been constructed about the 18-Right Ventilation Shaft site, and achain-link fence had <br />been constructed around the cover-plate placed over the shaft. Water was being taken from the cuttings <br />impoundment and hauled by truck for discharge into a pond in the facilities area. <br />GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE <br />Operations were in compliance with the mine plan. Underground mining was underway at Station 42+96 in <br />the 17 Right Panel, NW mining district. <br />EXCESS SPOIL AND DEVELOPMENT WASTE <br />Backfill and cover of the cuttings had not been started at the impoundment at the 18-Right Ventilation Shaft. <br />C-1982-056 CP Inspection of June 29, 2005, Page 3 of 4 pages.
