Revegetation
Due to recent rains, the site is coming to life regarding vegetation on the reclaimed area.
Grasses, fortis, and a few weeds are vigorously sprouting. New growth was evident on some
of the rabbitbrush shrubs that had been grazed last fall. Warmer temperatures will accelerate
growth due to available soil moisture Milton Montoya. a member of the Montoya family who
owns the site, was feeding cattle to the east of the reclaimed area, I spoke with him about the
DMG plans to again sample the site this summer. He mentioned he is interested in grazing
again in the fall after those sampling efforts are completed. The operator should contact the
Montoya s to ensure grazing plans are coordinated with the DMG and operator's intentions and
efforts toward final bond release. __ __~I
,. ~. - =tii~~i
- Tf -
I .~
" :..
. ... - a. .: t ::.. ..
.. ~.
~- .. _ - ... »t~:
_ Syr ~• ~~,.~r ~ .r '~ ._
- f 4l
er ~ fir'' - J 14..
3 a'~ ~ ~ rar7r ''~ r t~'tM~ ~FtlrPti~~•~p~ •r':~ ;,: "n~'t!T "
.lam _. ..- ~ L it v -~ .._ SY~ _ ..1~` .~ .N.:L 9.~?~' 9t.n:.~
Overall, due in part, to the arrival of badly needed moisture, the site appeared in excellent
condition for the spring season
