_ . =.
Hayden Gulch Terminal, Inc , pg 2
Surface and ground water monitoring is required semi-annually and is current through 1 1/96.
This completed the otlice records review
We next conducted an inspection of the disturbed areas at the loadout. Ground conditions as
mentioned above ranged From moist to saturated soils All appropriate signs and markers
necessary were noted Mr Dudash pointed out some minorerosion areas which need routine
maintenance due primarily to recent rains and saturated soil conditions which included: southeast
facing outslope at gate entrance and the inlet side of the culvert which crosses the roadway at the
overhead conveyor. Minor erosion repair is also necessary at the concrete footer for the conveyor.
A low spot was observed in ditch 3 which did not currently appear problamatic given the amount
of rain recently, the ditch appears to be functioning We discussed scheduling weed control at the
site for Canadian thistle and a possible white top infestation. Mr. Petrosky was making
arrangements by phone during the inspection for removal of miscellaneous debris at the site.
There is a small slump in the sed. pond embankment outslope for pond 2 which needs to be
monitored by the permittee and repaired if it worsens. All three topsoil stockpiles observed are
well vegetated. The permittee is considering fencing the stockpiles to facilitate livestock grazing
of adjacent areas Silt fencing installed for the alternate sediment control areas at the office trailer
and power substation was recently redone and in good repair Some small areas at the substation
had also recently been reseeded. Water was backing up into the culvert t}oin the access road on
the west side on pond I.This did not appear problamatic at this time due to all the recent rain but
should be monitored by the permittee. We observed the rail loop culvert locations and the rail
crossing at U.S. highway 40. This concluded the field inspection.
Please address any questions concerning this report to Henry Austin at (303) 844-1466.
