The operator's
representative, Walt Isenbart, was out of town on other county business and was therefore not
present during the inspection. The site is located approximately 2D miles northeast of
Burlington, Colorado along Sand Creek.
The identification sign was present at the entrance to the mine site but was faded to the
point of being un-readable. 'Phere were a couple of tee-posts that appear to be the northwest
and northeast permit boundary markers, however, the map included with the application is not
of sufficient detail to field locate and verify the site. Therefore, all hree of these
items are being cited as problems on page three of this report along with corrective actions.
The current disturbance is yenerally inside and south of the tee-posts and north of the
creek. There are a couple of material stockpiles whithin this area. At least one of these
appears ~to be topsoil. The natural creek channel basically consists of a sandy wash with
fairly steep sandy banks capped with a thin veneer of topsoil. Most of the excavation to
date has occurred north of the creek and into the creek bank. Vegetation on site consists
of western wheatgrass, Blue grama, Prairie sandreed, Stipa and some sand sage. Outside of
the need for a more detailed map so that the site can be properly staked out on the ground,
the site is in good condition.
CERTIFIED t~1AIL NO,~ ~~a ~~ ~ ~ Zb
RETURN RECE4PT REOUESTE~?--
I & E Contact Address cc: Jim Stevens
^ CE
NAME Walt Zsenba x~t ^ BL
OPERATOR Kit Carson County ^ FS
STREET P.O.
