III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE .
- -- -- - .= Below are comments on the inspection. -The comments include discussion of observations made during the --
-- inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or -
evidence supporting the enforcement action.
Ponds F and G are not as well vegetated as the other site ponds however; they aze stable with no
problems noted.
Loadout/Supnort Facilities
The loadout area was free of snow cover. The surface of the site was muddy from recent
snowmelt and runoff: The entrance gate was locked and the site was secure. The loadout pond
was retaining cleaz water up to the level of the spillway. The pond was not dischazging at the
time of the inspection. No problems were noted at the loadout facility.
~soil/Reveeetation
Vegetation is well established at the mine site. Grass is beginning to emerge in many azeas of the
site. Several rills and two small gullies were noted in the Man Pit (pre-1986 reclamation). One
of the gullies is located about 750 feet northwest of Pond D. This gully has been noted on
previous inspections and has had rock check dams placed in it. No significant new erosion is
occurring at this location. Several rills and one small gully aze located within the reclaimed azea
west of Spoil Well SP-O1. These do not appeaz to present a significant erosion problem at this
time. Please continue to monitor these locations in the Marr Pit for additional erosion. If
necessary, take appropriate steps to reduce erosion and stabilize these azeas. Overall the mine
site appears stable and well vegetated.
Fish & Wildlife
Wildlife tracks aze visible at Ponds A, B, and C. Five antelope were spotted on the westem edge
of the 720 Pit neaz the permit boundary. A small herd of approximately 13 elk were traveling
north along the western edge of the Marr Pit at the time of the inspection.
