Permit Renewal process. The light use road to pond 5 has also been repositioned
were it enters the disturbed area and this should also be modified on the
appropriate map during the Permit Renewal process.
The light-use road to pond 8 had been graded to restore drainage and prevent flows
from eroding the road cut slope above pond 8 and near the gas line crossing. This
grading has had limited success. Additional measures appear necessary at this
location. The road also requires stxr~ grading from this paint to the pond
embankment below.
F~drologic Balance
The site has experienced persistent rains over the last month, causing some minor
erosion on the regraded surface. No significant gullies were present on the
regraded topography. Perimeter ditches will require some maintenance once
material dries due to sedimentation in the ditches especially in areas of shallow
grade.
Pond 9 held water above the lowest set of holes but was only discharging a
trickle. It was determined that some debris had clogged one of the outlet ho1"s.
This debris was removed and the pond began to discharge slightly cloudy at. about
one inch flow on a 45 degree v-notch weir. All ponds at the site held various
volumes of water but none of these were discharging during the inspection. Pond
embankments are beginning to show signs of vegetation establishment due to
excellent moisture conditions.
-<`•<~
., i .. 11rJ 4 `fit ~ ;,,, ,• --~ ° tZ: ~~~ 9;• S~
.' .
- _ - T ~R t
Puril . ,. , n i i . °i~:. ,.,
Backfilling and Grading
The operator has completed the majority of the backfilling and grading work at the
site. No pit areas remain and all highwalls have been eliminated. The operator
should submit a technical revision to the permit addressing variations in the
post-mininc7 toooaraohv due to the early termination of mining activities.
