The crack <br />was two to three inches wide and was observed intermittently for approximately 100 feet in length. No <br />stability concerns were observed. <br />Fish end Wildlife <br />During the inspection, a couple of jack rabbits were obaerved_ Antelope and deer droppings were <br />observed all over the site. Mr. Moore and Mr. Koblitz both noted they have observed sage grouse on the <br />site as weIl as many other bird speiciee. Over the years Mr. Koblitz, the ponds have attracted a wide <br />variety of wildlife species. The site ie well utilized by many wildlife species. <br />The reclaimed mine site ie charachterized as a sage gcaseland community. The site has bean retluned to a <br />postmining Land use of gtaziwrg land and wildlife habitiat. The vegetation that has been established will <br />promote both of these uses. Mr. Moore is very pleased with the revegetation and commented that the site <br />is in excellent condition for grazing. (In June, 1996 Greystorre graved epproximatly 200 cattle on the site. <br />The site held up weIl and no negative impacts were observed.) <br />The Canadian Strip 114ine includes 81 acres of reclamation. Phase I (9.3 acres) in the northern part of the <br />permit area was seeded in 1981, Phase 11(6.3 acresl was seeded in 1980•, Phase [lI (8.5 acres) was seeded <br />in 1981 and Phase IV (52.7 scree) was seeded in 1987. creyatone submitted vegetation data with the <br />bond release application that is under review to determine if the success standards have been achieved. <br />As with many areas in North Park weed control has been an ort®oing effort at the mine site. The primary <br />species of concern has been Canada thistle. Weeds on-site have been ma»eged effectively end no large <br />infestations of weeds were observed. Several small patches are apparent. <br />Reclamation Success <br />Reclamation at the Canadian Strip Mine has been succeesfiil. The post-mining lend use of rangeland and <br />wildlife habitiat has been reestablished. <br />B~.orde <br />Mine records were checked at the Jackson County Clerl.• and Recorders Office on October 3, 1993. See <br />attached list. A copy of the bond release application was on Sle and available to the public. <br />
