Access Road Alignment:
The primary access road alignment does not match alignments shown on maps
submitted in1980 and 1998. Were the previous alignments reclaimed or did they not exist?
Response:
The alignment shown on the current map is accurate. The alignment shown on the
1998 map is incorrect. The current access road is in good condition and has been in use for
many years. Old maps showing other locations are either in error or the old roads were for
temporary use and were later reclaimed, as no other access roads are noticeable in this area.
Overhead Electric Power Supply:
There are no overhead electric power supply lines shown. Explain.
Response:
The overhead power supply line into the Topaz Mine was removed. No power
currently exists to this site.
Waste Rock Dump Designations:
The brown hachured areas on the draft map are assumed to be waste rock dumps.
Response:
The new map submitted herewith has a clearly labeled Legend identifying map
features.
Reclamation Mags:
The Reclamation Map to be submitted by the Operator must depict those features
which will remain on site; features which are to be removed should not be shown on the
Reclamation Map.
Response:
Affected Area Outline:
The Disturbed Area is entirely within the Affected Area. The Affected Area boundary
must be marked in the field. Explain why only part of the catchment berm around the dump
toe is within the disturbance area.
Response:
As noted in the preceding comments, the Operator is ready to mark Affected Area
boundaries upon reaching concurrence with the Division on the Proposed Affected Area
boundary as shown on the 1" = 100' site map submitted with the Armual Report.
The updated site map submitted with the Annual Report on January 28, 2003 has been
corrected to include the entire catchment berm within the limits of the disturbance area.
5
