Upon reaching concurrence with the Division on the Affected Area
boundary, the comers will be marked in the field.
Permit Identification Sign:
The Permit identification sign does not show the current Operator.
Response:
In January 2002 the Operator installed a correct Permit identification sign and
provided photographic evidence.
Topsoil Manaeement:
The site was closed in 1994 and the site was graded and seeded. Care should be taken
during site reactivation to segregate and protect any topsoil encountered. Available topsoil
should be salvaged during site earthwork.
Response:
One topsoil stockpile exists at the mine site. Additionally, the catchment structures
around the dump toe are constructed of surficial materials and will be sources of suitable
reclamation cover material.
The Topaz waste dump is surface is comprised mainly of fine-grained and shaley
material from the excavation of the decline. In spite of recent dry growing seasons, this
material has exhibited quite rapid natural revegetation, albeit with mainly weedy species.
June 2, 1998 Letter from Division:
Locatable Survey Point; Access Road:
The map submitted in April 1998 by the Operator does not include a locatable survey
point. The entire access road out to the County road needs to be shown.
ResUOnse:
The new site map submitted January 28, 2003 with the Annual Report shows a
locatable point to reference to an existing section corner.
1
