Compliance with Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act <br />9.06 Tousoil <br />The operator is stripping the area associated with stage 2 and stockpiling the <br />material in the active stockpile next to the office. The operator estimates that he has <br />an additional two weeks worth of topsoil stripping operations. Topsoil stockpile C <br />(next to pond N) shows good growth of rye. The saline-sodic soil material is segregated. <br />The berm around the saline-sodic material should be deepened to prevent contamination. <br />Topsoil stockpiles next to the office should be seeded this fall. <br />4.09 Excess Spoil <br />The operator has stripped topsoil between the horseshoe dump buffer zone and <br />the haul road behind the dump to insure against topsoil contamination. Additional <br />material is being placed on the horseshoe dump at this time, though the dump will be at <br />its full extent soar. . <br />4.15 Revegetation <br />Several areas will require reseeding this fall. Embankments on both sides of <br />the haul/access road will require seeding. A11 pond embankments will require seeding. <br />Topsoil stockpiles next~to the office will require seeding this fall (assuming topsoil <br />additions are finished). <br />9.18 Protection of Fish, Wildlife and Related Environmental Values <br />All access gates around the mine perimeter have been closed. <br />4.28 Support Facilities Not Located at the Mine Site <br />The proposed Northgate loadout facility was inspected. The operator had covered <br />the tar pit with rock and gravel material to exclude animals. Neavy equipment tracks <br />have not been smoothed, as requested. The operator conveyed that he had requested an <br />extension, which has not been received by the Division. Seed is growing on top and on <br />the xorth side of the stockpiled topsoil. There are no signs of further disturbance at <br />the site. <br />5.02.9 Availabilitu of Records <br />The MLR permit application was on file in the mine office and with the Jackson <br />County Planner. The operator had current monitoring well depth records, but had not <br />received water quality reports for the Last two quarters. <br />
