the 2003 vegetation sampling indicated the site met the approved revegetation standards
and that sampling would be conducted again in 2004 during the summer. He indicated they
would not graze again till next fall. Evidence of recent grazing was obvious, although grazing
pressure didn't seem to be excessive. Much of the above ground biomass remains following
grazing. Shrubs showed very little evidence of grazing pressure. Most species had likely
completed their reproductive cycle through seed development and dispersion. The scuffing
and disturbance of the near surface soil profile from the cattle traversing the site may provide
excellent germination conditions for natural regeneration of many of the seeds. The organic
fertilization from the cattle will likely help to further improve vegetation as well.
Overall, the site appeared in excellent condition for the fall season.
