This was an aerial inspection conducted by Jim Burnell of CDMG based on photos taken on <br />Thursday, 21 November, 2002. The area had experienced some snow in the preceding <br />weeks and there was still snow present at the higher elevations, although gone at the mine <br />site rteself <br />The new Elk Creek mine conveyer has been completed. The temporary conveyer has been <br />removed, but the conveyer corridor itself was still in place, including the ramp up to the slope <br />from the portal. There is no evidence of erosion in the area around the temporary conveyer. <br />The bottom end of the construction where the coal dumped into the stockpile, has been <br />graded and smoothed. <br />The road up Elk Creek appeared in very good condition. There was muddy water in Pond D. <br />The borrow area above the portals showed no signs of instability or erosion and it appears <br />that some vegetation has germinated on that slope. The road up the borrow area was in <br />good condition. There was construction activity near the upper end of the Elk Creek facilities <br />area, where the road was being extended and construction beginning on the rock dust tanks. <br />The Elk Creek topsoil pile showed no signs of instability or erosion. <br />The Elk Creek fan construction has been mostly completed; the new lamp house is in place. <br />Work continues on the preparation of the site for the rock dust tanks. The road extension <br />n the slope <br />The road to the Elk Creek mine appears stable and in good condition. The cutslope appears <br />stable. There is no erosion apparent. <br />The various light duty roads above Elk Creek also appear to be stable with no erosion. <br />
