III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the
inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or
evidence supporting the enforcement action.
There have not been any new additions to the west ridge waste pile. The pile is well vegetated and the
benches were stable. The collection ditches and the diversion ditch had sufficient capacity. The old
waste pile also was well vegetated and appeazed to be stable.
There were no signs of slope instability with any of the cut and fill benches at the east mine.
West Mine
The vegetative cover at the backfilled and graded site was good, although the vegetative stand is not very tall,
only two feet high. There were no indications of slope instability or erosional problems. The two sediment
ponds were dry. The spillways were operational and the embankments were stable, although not very well
vegetated. Silt fence was up.
The West Mine fan site, other than the road, is now fully reclaimed. The silt fence was up. The road to the site
was in good condition and the mine ID sign and surface disturbance markers were up.
c:/word bowie 1 /insp0806
2
