Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology (DMG) The weather was hot and ground conditions were slightly muddy in
places due to rain in the last 48 hours. This mine has closed and reclamation of most areas
is complete. I was unaccompanied on this inspection.
Hydrologic Balance
l ~ /~
Reclaimed portal I /
area - I~
~~~ 8 ~-.
.. ,
~.' ` ~• ' .
Reclaimed purai area, Souti~field A4uie August 20L'4
Both Pond 5 and Pond 4 were holding small puddles of water. Embankments and spillways
appeared in good condition. Recent runoff has not resulted in excessive down-cutting of the
ditch into Pond 5 Riprap added in the last 6 months has arrested development of a gully at
the inlet. The Magpie Creek Diversion ditch shows signs of passing recent storm runoff
without incident. Vegetation and nprap seem to work well together in stabilizing this ditch.
