Seneca II-W C-82-057 <br />Pg 2/3 24 Aug 04 <br />Hydrologic Balance (cont.): -Pond 009 contained water approximately six feet <br />below the discharge pipe and was not discharging at the time of the inspection. The <br />pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable. No erosional <br />problems were noted on the embankment at the time of the inspection. The <br />emergency spillway is a riprapped open channel. The spillway appeared to be <br />stable at the time of the inspection. <br />- Pond 015 contained water approximately one foot below the discharge pipe and <br />was not discharging at the time of the inspection. The pond embankment was well <br />vegetated and appeared to be stable. No erosional problems were noted on the <br />embankment at the time of the inspection. The emergency spillway is a riprapped <br />open channel. The spillway appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. <br />- Pond 017 contained water approximately one foot below the discharge pipe and <br />was discharging through aweep-hole on the discharge pipe at the time of the <br />inspection. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be stable. <br />No erosional problems were noted on the embankment at the time of the <br />inspection. The emergency spillway is a riprapped open channel. The spillway <br />appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. <br />- Pond O16 contained water approximately several feet below the discharge pipe <br />and was not discharging at the time of the inspection. The pond embankment was <br />well vegetated and appeared to be stable. No erosional problems were noted on <br />the embankment at the time of the inspection. The emergency spillway is a <br />riprapped open channel. There is no riprap, however, on the portion of the channel <br />that crosses fhe access road to the pond. The spillway appeared to be stable at the <br />time of the inspection. This pond receives the discharge from the recently <br />constructed pond Ol6A. <br />- Pond Ol bA contained water approximately one feet foot the discharge pipe and <br />was not discharging at the time of the inspection. Water is, however, seeping form <br />the embankment and flowing into pond 016. The pond embankment is new and has <br />very limited vegetation. No erosional problems were noted on the embankment at <br />the time of the inspection. The emergency spillway is a riprapped open channel. <br />There is no riprap, however, on the portion of the channel that crosses the access <br />road to the pond. The spillway appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. <br />There are two slides on the upslope side of the pond but they do not appear to have <br />gotten into the pond. The operator stated that a survey of the pond indicated that <br />these slides have not changed the ponds volume. He was not sure, at the time, what <br />they were going to do about the slides. <br />-There was no water in any of the open pits at the time of the inspection. <br />- All of the ditches along the haul roads were well vegetated and appeared to be <br />stable. The culverts were all clear and appeared to be functioning properly. <br />Topsoil: -Topsoil stockpile PP was well vegetated and had no erosional problems. <br />The sign on the pile was down and needs to be replaced. <br />-Topsoil stockpile GG was well vegetated and had no erosional problems. This pile <br />was being used for topsoil replacement. <br />
