Several of the wells need tr_. be worked r_~n because
s~~il around the ~=asings is starting to sin4_:. There are n~~ wells that
have soil dropped nut to the aquifer being monitored but the
situation should be ~=~~rrected before this happens.
The par shall tlume and statt gauge on the downstream end cif Mann
Draw nn the permit area is being maintained. Uurinq the previous OSM
oversigh+. inspection, it was noted in the MSEIF.' report that the flume
sh~~uld be lowered to mare effe~_tively monitor the ephermeral flows,
that was implemented.
Fond "b" was dry. The primary spillway, a drop inlet with a trash
rac4:, is starting to cant an an angle fr~~m the horizontal because it
is not anch~~red. the prc, blem is caused by freezing and thawing cycles
during the winter as ice pulls the strLrcture away from the
horizontal, This pond is not bac4;ed up by another dawn stream, it
instead, is the lower of two in a serie~•. The situation should be
watched if it becomes worse. corrective measures should be
implemented. The other pond in the series, had a small amount e,f
water in it. The spillways c.n it were functic, nal, no problems noted
. The drainage area of disturbed ar_res being ~=ontrolled by these twe
ponds has been modified by the company's bacl:tilling activities. Fart
of the overland. flows will probably go bacL: towards the pit now
because spoil is being pulled r_~ff cat the top of the pile frir
backfillinq.
The rer_laim planted areas were chec4;ed. The vegetative stands
are uniform, it appears as though they hays a lot of sage starting en
most of the area. Urainaq_e on the reclaimed areas is positive.
Fond "H" was dry. The drawdc~wn valve can the drop inlet principal
spillway was clr_,sed. All spillways were tunctional and being
maintained.
Topsoil piles nn the mine are revered with temporary cover and
mar I;ed.
The drainage flr_~w direction r~tf the yard area near the mine -~tfir_e
is questi~~nable. The grade levels in that area are nearly zero,
there also is no evidence of accumulation er flows r_~ff of the
perimeter and the berms in the area are being. Eut there appears t.,
be a low area near the office well that should be watched t^
determine! the dire=tion of flow and if there is any amount of
runoff that leaves the permit boundary untreated. If this is
nrrurrinq_ a violation should be issued.
their loadout north of i_owdrey, ~_nlr~radn was checked. The area
has not been used sinr_e the last QSM oversight inspe~=ti cm. There is
nq real stared along the railroad siding other than a r_ouple ~~f cubic
yards of waste that is bladed up on the east end of the narrow
relr~ading strip. The area is secured and marled with the appropriate
mine IU signs. The topsail salvaged from the area is r_overed with
temporary vegetation and is marked. Urainage r_ontrol for the area is
adequate and is being maintained. there is no sediment pond because
the area is sr. small but the perimeter is bounded by a series of
berms and ditches that adequately prevent runr~ff from leaving the
area.
