f ` • • 1
Sediment Pond 003, located on the east side of the East Pit Area, was dry. Primary
spillway was 12" CMP, inlet and outlet of CMP were clear of sediment and debris.
Discharge location of CMP was rock lined and appeared stable, no evidence of
excessive erosion. Secondary spillway was open channel, riprap lined and stable.
Vegetative cover for pond embankment was sparse and weedy, however, no evidence
of excessive erosion or instability was observed. Pond inlet was poorly protected from
erosion by decomposing shale and sandstone rocks. Evidence of minor erosion
observed at pond inlet.
Sediment containment ditches 3 and 4, conveying disturbed area drainage to Sediment
Pond 003, were well maintained. Rock lining in steep sections of ditches was intact, no
evidence of excessive erosion, rock lining appeared stable.
Contour furrows on steep reclaimed slopes of the East Pit Area were generally intact.
Steep reclaimed slopes showed evidence of minor rill erosion, however, vegetative cover
appeared well established and sufficient to control future erosion. Numerous rose
bushes were located along south and east facing slopes. Rabbit droppings were located
along south side of East Pit Area.
Backfill & Grading - No evidence of slumping, sliding or settling was observed on
reclaimed areas.
