(Page 2) <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: ~~-~00(L--088 <br />INSPECTION DATE: 9/~ 5/0.5 INSPECTORS INITIALS: KAP <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Minerals and Geology's four-year monitoring <br />program. Present at the inspection was Kate Pickford, DMG. Robert Regester was notified of the <br />inspection, but was unable to attend. Weather at the time of the inspection was clear, calm, and <br />approximately 70 degrees. <br />2. This site consists of 40 acres, with a maximum disturbance limit of 10 acres (5 acres of which can be <br />mining disturbance), located north of Antero Reservoir, on Colorado State Land Board land. The site is <br />approximately 5 miles into the reservoir property from the main entrance. Although signs are located <br />along the route identifying Colorado Cobble and Gravel, the appropriate sign is not posted at the <br />entrance to the mine site, (See problem 1, Page 3). There are no boundary markers evident at the site <br />along the permit boundary, (See problem 2, Page 3). <br />3. The site consists of an excavated area with a vertical highwall approximately 1,000 feet long and 15 <br />feet high. The approved mining plan states that mining will occur with removal of the gravel material <br />resulting in slopes of 3H:1 V or less (See problem 3, Page 4). Multiple stockpiles are present at the site. <br />None of the stockpiles at the site, however, appear to consist of topsoil reserved for reclamation (See <br />problem 4, page 4). <br />4. The surety was set for the site during the permit application review in 2000 at 15,809.00. Although the <br />operator is not following the mining plan and additional grading of highwalls would be necessary at this <br />time, the depth of the excavation is not currently as deep as specified in the mining plan.
